New Song: To Know My Savior

====================================
FOR YOUR INFORMATION...
====================================

I have something special to share with you...

A song called To Know My Savior was recently written, and I have received permission from the copyright holders for you to download free copies of both the sheet music and an MP3 recorded version!

It's a beautiful song, and I think that you'll enjoy using it in Seminary. (It would also be appropriate for use in several other settings, as well.)

You can download (at no charge) both the sheet music (a 234K PDF file) and an MP3 recording (3.5 MB file) of this song:

Here is a short history of this song:

The words were written as a poem several years ago by Ralph Wilkins. He is now deceased, but his daughter, Alita, lives in my ward in Virginia. The music was written by Gregory L. Goehring and Lindy Kerby. Greg also lives in my ward -- just down the street from us, in fact.

A week ago in a joint Melchizedek Priesthood and Relief Society Meeting, four daughters of Alita sang this song near the end of the meeting.

I was so impressed with the song that immediately after the meeting I spoke with Alita and Greg and asked their permission to share it with you -- and they agreed!

This music is copyrighted, but it may be used and enjoyed as long as it is not sold or altered.

Here are the words to this song:

I never heard the Savior
When He taught in Galilee.
Neither was I present
When He walked upon the sea.

I wasn't in the crowd
When He fed the multitude
And calmed their pangs of hunger
With that small amount of food.

I wasn't with that party
When the time came to dine,
And the Savior's contribution
Was turning water into wine.

I was not a mourner
When they sought to have Him save
Their long deceased Lazarus
From a cold and silent grave.

I never heard the angels sing
The evening of His birth,
For many years had passed
Before I even came to earth.

But since I have a firm grasp
Upon the iron rod,
I came to know my Savior
And to love the Son of God.

I hope that you and your students will enjoy it as much as I do.

Best wishes,

Ken
